“Grumpy Monkey” written by: Suzanne Lang Illustrated by: Max Lang Publisher: Random House
📚
I picked up “Grumpy Monkey” on a February trip to Barnes and noble. I was drawn to the cover my Jim Panzee’s (main character) expression. Who of us doesn’t have grumpy days? Sometimes we can’t even explain why we are having a bad day. This was the case for Jim. For everyone else the day was beautiful, the sun was out, the sky was blue and the bananas were sweet!
📚
Define-confused, grumpy, whispered
📚
Synonyms-have your child provide synonyms for the following words: wonderful, stroll
📚
Wh-questions- why was Jim having a bad day? Why is it okay to have a bad day for no reason?
📚
Verbs-stand, walk, hunched, raise, trip, frown, sing, swing, roll, lay, jump, dance,
📚
Figurative language-What does it mean. When someone says “I don’t feel happy inside?” What does it mean to “storm off”?
📚
Non-verbal comprehension-what facial expressions does Jim make that help you understand what he is feeling?
📚
I will have a reading of the book on my website soon. You can also head to you tube for readings. #speechtherapy #language #booksandlanguage #childrensbooks #grumpymonkey #suzannelang #maxlang #randomhouse #nytimesbestseller
